What cookies are and why we use them
A cookie is a small text file placed on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit a website. It lets the site recognise your device on later pages and later visits, so it can tell whether you are signed in or which language you have chosen. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, do much the same job, and this policy covers all of them.
We use cookies for a short list of practical reasons: to run the site and the cashier securely, to keep your session open as you move between pages, to remember settings you have chosen, to understand which parts of the site people use, and to measure how our advertising performs. Some cookies are set by us; others are set by the providers we work with for payments, fraud checks, live chat, analytics and advertising.
Cookies that are not strictly necessary are only set once you have agreed to them, either through the notice shown when you first arrive or through the cookie settings on the site. You can change your mind whenever you like.
The types of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories. The table below is a summary; the notes underneath explain what each group actually does.
| Category | What it does | Needs your agreement |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in, protects your account and the cashier, and stores your cookie choices | No, the site cannot run without them |
| Performance and analytics | Counts visits and shows us which pages are slow or hard to use | Yes |
| Functionality | Remembers preferences such as language, layout and sound | Yes |
| Marketing | Measures our advertising and limits how often the same message is shown | Yes |
Strictly necessary cookies
These make the site work. They hold your session open between pages, help us spot unusual activity on an account, and record the cookie choices you have made. They also support the account checks we carry out as a licensed operator, including age and identity verification. They cannot be switched off in the cookie notice.
Performance and analytics cookies
These tell us how the site is used: which pages are opened, how long they take to load, where people leave a journey and which errors appear. The figures are combined into totals, so they show that a page is slow rather than anything about you personally.
Functionality cookies
These remember the choices you make, such as your language, your preferred layout and whether sound is on, and they support features including live chat. Without them the site still works, but it forgets your preferences on every visit.
Marketing cookies
These help us understand whether a visit followed an advert and whether our advertising reaches people who want to see it. They may be set by the advertising and measurement providers we work with, and they can cap how often the same message is shown. We do not use them to advertise to anyone who has asked us to stop or who is registered with GamStop.
How to change your cookie choices
You stay in control of every cookie that is not strictly necessary. There are two places to manage them: the cookie notice on this site and the settings in your browser.
In the cookie notice on this site
The notice lets you accept all cookies, refuse everything optional, or choose category by category. The same panel stays available from the cookie settings in the footer, so you can look at your choices and change them at any time. New settings apply as soon as you save them.
In your browser or device settings
Every mainstream browser lets you control cookies, usually under a privacy or security heading. The wording differs, but the options are much the same:
- Block all cookies, or block only those set by parties other than the site you are visiting.
- Delete the cookies already stored on your device, either all of them or site by site.
- Clear cookies automatically each time you close the browser.
- Use a private window, which discards cookies once the window is closed.
On a phone or tablet you can also reset or limit the advertising identifier in your device settings. Your browser's own help pages give the exact steps for the version you are running.
What happens if you block or delete cookies
Blocking cookies is your choice and will not stop you reading the public pages of the site. It can, though, affect how well things work once you sign in:
- You may be unable to sign in, or be signed out each time you open a new page.
- The cashier may not complete a deposit or withdrawal, because the security checks that protect a payment rely on session cookies.
- Preferences such as language and sound will reset on every visit.
- Some pages may load slowly or show errors that do not appear in our own figures.
Changes to this policy and how to reach us
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, when a provider is added or removed, or when the rules that apply to us change. The current version is always on this page, with the date it took effect shown alongside it. If a change is significant, we will ask for your cookie choices again through the notice on the site.
If you have a question about this policy, want to know more about a particular cookie, or would like to understand what we do with the information it collects, e-mail us at support@casinoalfobet.co.uk or start a live chat from any page. Please write from the e-mail address registered to your account with us so we can confirm who you are before we answer.
